All Abilities Hoops
Inclusive Basketball for ALL ABILITIES
THE ALL ABILITIES HOOPS PROGRAM
All Abilities Hoops is a program dedicated to providing safe, inclusive, and adaptive basketball opportunities for children and young people with physical, intellectual, or psychosocial disabilities. Our program ensures that everyone, regardless of ability, has the chance to participate, develop skills, and feel connected through the game. Sessions are delivered in accessible environments, with the Hoop Dreams facility offering wheelchair access and accessible toilet facilities to support participants with mobility needs.
We also work alongside our sister organisation, Integrity 4 Life, to provide participants with access to trained support workers where required. Our coaches have undertaken specialist training, including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), ensuring sessions are trauma-informed, supportive, and responsive to the individual needs of each participant.
Why ALL ABILITIES HOOPS Matters
According to recent research, only around one in three children with disability participate in organised sport weekly, despite the well-documented benefits of physical activity for physical health, mental wellbeing, and social connection.
Inclusive team based sport provides participants with opportunities to build confidence, social skills, and resilience, while also developing peer relationships with team mates, coaches, and themselves. For many, these experiences can reduce isolation, support emotional wellbeing, and provide a sense of belonging.
